Be patient, Saints fans. As you can see, the NFL salary cap is causing problems for plenty of teams. While many fans want their teams to go on spending frenzies (myself included), we have to really think about the lasting effect of splurging for names instead of talent.
Believe it or not, the Saints have already had what will be their biggest free agent signing of the year and that is having head coach Sean Payton back roaming the sidelines. The team is in a good position personnel-wise and may be striking gold by switching to a 3-4 defense and adding Rob Ryan as the defensive coordinator. Ryan will have a chance to use Brodrick Bunkley, Junior Galette and Martez Wilson to dominate in his system the same way he used Jay Ratliff, Demarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer. The team should have the same great offense and Brees is still leading the chant.
While it is true that this team has a lot of holes to fill, the free agency market is so deep that the front office can miss out on players and still have options to choose from.
