WNBA Season Resumes: 3 Storylines to Watch, From the Dallas Wings’ Potential to the Rookie of the Year Race

The WNBA season is back after the Olympic break, and I am excited about several things. From the Sun challenging the Liberty for the top seed to the Playoffs, and what happens with Gabby Williams after her remarkable Olympic run. However, there are three things that I am looking forward to the most, and while others may not agree, this is what I am ready to see.

The Dallas Wings

The Wings are struggling by the standings—I mean, they are the worst team in the league—but I just don’t believe they are as bad as their record suggests. One of their best players, Satou Sabally, will be back in uniform, and if she can bring some team chemistry with her, it will be fun to see what they can do on the court.

The Rookie of the Year Race

I know everyone thinks it’s a lock for Caitlin Clark, but Angel Reese is right there on her heels. I have to be honest, at the start of the season, I thought Cameron Brink would win the award, but even if healthy, I still believe this would be a two-person race. The Rookie of the Year battle, along with the fight for the playoffs between these two, will be something to watch as the season comes to a close.

The Two-Time Defending Champions – Las Vegas Aces

There’s a lot going on around the Aces organization, and it will be interesting to see how they come back after the break. They didn’t look like themselves before the break, so I wonder how they will handle the adversity surrounding the team right now. I am a big believer in the Aces, so I feel like they will be okay. The team is full of level-headed vets, and if we know anything about the team in Vegas, it’s that they will always compete.

The WNBA season resumes on Thursday, August 15th, with the following matchups:

• Phoenix vs Chicago
• Washington vs Minnesota
• New York vs Los Angeles
