The SWAC has named Texas Southern University senior Guard Omar Strong as Conference Player of the Year. Strong averaged 17.0 points per game for the Tigers and helped to lead the team to the SWAC regular season championship.
TSU had more than one player to get SWAC honors this season. Tigers Forward Fred Sturdivant was named SWAC Defensive Player of the Year. Sturdivant led the conference in blocks by averaging 3.2 per game.
