I don’t know and I haven’t talked to Dallas Wings Head Coach Brian Agler, but I am pretty sure he loved what he saw from his team tonight as they defeated the New York Liberty 93-80.
While the number one pick Sabrina Ionescu showed why the New York Liberty chose her first as she had 33 points and 7 rebounds 7 assists, the Wings’ picks Satou Sabally, Ty Harris and Bella Alarie showed why they were drafted in the first round as well.
The Wings came out with a high level of energy on both sides of the ball. They were attacking on defense and they were fast and efficient on offense. The one thing that I said before the season started is that if this team can out-pace the team they’re playing and get their threes to fall, they will be a problem. Tonight, that happened.
The three things that I loved about the wings tonight were:
- Moriah Jefferson looked extra comfortable tonight. She controlled the team and she went 6-8 while scoring 13 points and 4 assists
- Allisha Gray is the spark this Wings team needs off the bench. She comes in the game and you automatically see the dog in her. She’s all in on both sides of the ball and it is so much fun to watch.
- The pace of the game was beautiful. Dallas got up and down the court with ease and, as I said before, if they can keep this up, they will shock the league.
The Wings are now 1-1 after their first two games.
