Are You A New WNBA Fan? Here’s One Thing To Watch From Each Team

The news came out that the WNBA will have more nationally televised games and I hope that means more new eyes will be viewing the league.  If you plan on joining the WNBA fandom, I will give you one thing to look for with every team.

Hopefully this will make your transition to watching women’s hoops a little easier. There are three teams that I can’t and won’t pick one thing about because there are legends on those teams and it’s too hard to pick just one thing and not five or six with those squads.

Atlanta Dream – The Dream are a young team and all of the fans around the league are excited about rookie Chennedy Carter and with good reason. Carter was the fourth pick in the draft and even in college she was one of maybe the top two most fun players to watch. Courtney Williams and Monique Billings are some players I follow but, since I said that I am giving one reason you should watch a team, Chennedy Carter is it.

Chicago Sky – With the Chicago Sky, this is a team that is just full of fight and you have dogs in the paint and outside of it. However, if I had to give you a reason to watch this team, it would be Diamond DeShields. She just gets after it on both sides of the ball and she’s personally one of my favorite players to watch in basketball.

Connecticut Sun – With the Sun I believe most will say Alyssa Thomas alone is enough reason to watch the WNBA let alone to watch the team. While I would agree with them, I am also in the DeWanna Bonner fan club, so I’m going to cheat and say those two.

Dallas Wings – The Wings have the runner up Rookie Of the year Arike Ogunbowale and I promise you she is must-see TV.

Indiana Fever – I say this every time I mention the Fever. If you love a player with great handles, then you need to watch Kelsey Mitchell play. She is a cross over waiting to happen.

Las Vegas Aces – This is a team that could possibly win the championship but, if it’s one reason that you should watch this team, it has to be A’ja Wilson. Just from off-court personality to on-court ability, she’s basically one of the faces of the WNBA. She is a beast.

Los Angeles Sparks – Listen, I refuse to pick just one thing from this team. If you love great players, then this is one of the teams that you should watch.

Minnesota Lynx– This squad is lead by the vet Sylvia Fowles and she is one of the obvious reasons to watch this team, but make sure you check out the reigning Rookie Of The Year Napheesa Collier.

New York Liberty– I think the easy choice would be Sabrina Ionescu. She’s the number one pick in the draft and is already a fan favorite.

Phoenix Mercury – So, do you remember how I said that there are three teams that I can’t and won’t pick one thing about? This is another one. However, If you want to see a big 3 WNBA style, check out the Phoenix Mercury.

Seattle Storm – This this the third team that I said I can’t pick one thing about but, if you want to see a complete team play, then this is it. This is my pick to win the WNBA Championship this season.

Washington Mystics– Defending Champs. While they are missing some of their top players, they are still the champs until someone takes the trophy. That alone is enough reason to watch them.

If you’re new to watching the league, welcome. I promise you that these ladies will not disappoint. This league is full of ballers.
